Shake the Imperial Core
Why are we engaging with them about what they want us to engage with? Do you think the stuff in the news is REALLY what we need to spend a ton of time and resources on?
There has been a significant amount of resources dedicated to perpetuating United States Hegemony. The "Mainstream Media" has been a bogeyman for the American political right since as early as 2016. The American political left has even agreed that the misinformation is more prevalent now with the massive volume of information available. Let's get some perspective from a media insider:
The media is a tool used by the bourgeoisie to mitigate "radical" ideas. The bourgeois understands that our time is finite, and if the proles are too busy working, they can't organize for change. The alleged "middle class" is a lie to push complacency from people who have enough time to organize change. This "Middle Class" is who the media is made to control. As soon as you get some of your time back from capitalism, there are infinite ways that you can spend that time. The bourgeoisie has a vested interest in steering you away from actions that would shake the current balance of power (and maintaining capitalists at the top of the socio-economic hegemony).
Let's chat about degrees of separation. DSA Cleveland has a solidarity fund that members in good standing can apply to gain access to. That means as a member, you can give money to the fund, who then gives money to a member in need. You can confirm this by asking the member "hey did you get any money when you applied for it?" If you do not have that kind validation available, you may want to re-prioritize your personal resourcing.
This solidarity fund is excellent, but it qualifies as a "reactionary" action, since it is a reaction to economic hardship. We are not taking proactive actions to address why people need to access the mutual aid.
We have to consider how to move public opinion towards our larger "mass line" and speaking to Palestine and Transgender solidarity has gotten the Ohio left as far as it will take us. It is not education alone, rather coupled with real action, that will continue to win the hearts and minds of the imperial core. Real action as defined as "action that will improve quality of life for more than 1% of the cities population." People have to see the action with their own eyes.
Isn't it odd how Fox news talks about culture stuff, the collective left in the US agree that they are cherry picking information, making mountains out of molehills, and yet want to get in the mud and fight them 1:1? Why are we engaging with them about what they want us to engage with? Do you think the stuff in the news is REALLY what we need to spend a ton of time and resources on?
